I still struggle to understand the antipathy and outright apathy that seems to rule supreme in this country when it comes to elections, local or national.
Whilst people are happy to vent their spleen on forums or attend a demonstration when prompted they can't be bothered to exercise their democratic right! Is it because they think that their vote won't matter, yet still vote for an reality TV show personality (And pay for the pleasure!!). Or they have no interest because it won't affect them? (Only taxes, laws etc.) This is a bit of a cross post because I often attend the Councillors Forum - http://www.testvalley.gov.uk/pdf/ADM_ACF_Diary_2009-10.pdf Yet turnout is always poor, the same faces, the same politicoes. **Disclaimer** I am NOT a councillor or elected member or anything related to town, borough or County Council, some people know me (Big Nic) My interest is to make a difference by getting involved, reading and attending to know and understand what affects me. |

I've have heard many a comment lately about immigration in this country and ask the question will they be voting at the election. The reply I got back oh no I don't bother with things like that.
If everyone has that same opinion, if you don't vote, how do you get things changed?
