I'm hearing on the TV that many of our youngsters are taking inportant exams. Many of them are expected to take four in one day. Do you think this OK?
When I was at school many moons ago we had two and that was bad enough I can't agree with four.
What do you think?

It doesn't end at school though, lifelong education means getting used to exams and testing. It's more the governments top down driven targets and statistics that are harming schools and education.

School is far too easy these days. When I was at school things were a lot worse. Children today should be thankful that school life is far far more pleasant than it used to be. |

That as maybe but that doesn't mean they should have all this constant testing.

Constant testing has always been a part of education!! All that has changed is that it now relates to league tables and performance statistics. It is these that are seen to do the damage as schools attempt to attain the best results. Schools are teaching kids to pass SATS to satisfy targets rather than testing to improve their education.

This selfishness that seems to be everywhere these days, I think it came from the Thatcher days. It seems everybody is out for what they can get, everyone cares only about themselves. I am thinking more of public bodies and companies I think most of the general public are not that way yet although quite a few are. Schools ahould only be interested in educating children not coming first in some table.

If the children were being tested to help them progress fine, but to put young children through all the hassle just for league tables is unfair. Having said that, how else can Parents and the Government be sure schools are teaching properly, Not all schools or Teachers are good. |
