Why is it TVBC don't like us to shop in town?
The reason I have come to this conclusion is because more often than not I have to go to town on Saturdays. You eventually find a space normally the maximum stay is 2 hours. As soon as you get your ticket you thinking about what time you have to be back. All the time your shopping or doing what you have to your worrying about time, having second thoughts wondering if you are mistaken about the time to get back. Wouldn't it be nice to just park the car walk around the town and do what you have to maybe have a coffee or a snack then decided to either go home or do some more shopping, then get back to the car and pay for the time you've been when you leave. This would be much fairer. What do you think? |

I Totally agree. When I shop in Basingstoke I don't have to worry except whether I have enough cash and the right coinage for the machines. It would be nice to be able to walk around town and be as quick or as long as you want without the constant worry.
Well done Basil!

I think its true it does spoil it you always have to worry about your ticket running out. It would be nice to have the freedom to stay or leave as you wish.

I think it's to do with space and quantity of parking available, TVBC are more interested in turnover rather than the 'long stay' pay as you depart as it's a higher revenue earner. Particularly when you consider the nuisance of having the right change and often having to pay for longer than you do require! Also what is there in Andover to warrant a long stay or hours long shopping trip? Aside from the new cinema (separate parking etc.) Andover high street is all banks, building societies, a few coffee shops and charity shops. Off peak people may spend hours in the pub but that's outside of shopping hours so not a revenue earner.

I Agree theres not much in town, but I do like to have a little wander now and again see whats new. With the price of petrol shooting through the roof I can't afford to visit Basingstoke just to have a look round. Your point about turnover does make so much sense, I had never thought of it that way. It makes perfect sense.

Unfortunately I don't see much changing any time soon, petrol will continue to rise and public transport costs just as much for popular routes and is often neither practical nor convenient. |

I agree as well. As soon as I have parked the car I am constantly wondering how long I have left. Sometimes I just get fed up thinking about that I go back to the car early. |

As it deprives TVBC of cash they do get upset with you passing on your ticket but I feel if you've been robbed just because you have no change handy and don't dare to leave the car without a ticket for more than 5 mins to get some change!
